Transfers

Transferring your number to a provider

You are buying a specific listed 028 number for its stated VAT-inclusive price, not a phone service. Your calls, line and billing stay with whichever provider you choose. After purchase we coordinate getting the number set up with that provider. Compatibility, service setup, call charges, line rental and timescales all belong to the receiving provider, so confirm them before you buy.

  1. 01

    You order the number

The number is removed from sale the moment you order it, so nobody else can take it while the next steps are arranged.

  2. 02

You tell us where it should go

We need the provider the number should sit with, the account holder name, the service address and any existing account reference.

  3. 03

    We coordinate with the providers

We deal with the side releasing the number; your provider handles the side receiving it. Whether and how quickly a transfer can happen depends on the providers involved.

  4. 04

The number is set up on your service

Once your provider confirms the number is live, calls to it reach whatever line, handset, hunt group or VoIP setup your provider configures for you.

What we need from you

  • The provider the number should be transferred to
  • The exact account holder name held by that provider
  • The service address registered to the account
  • Any existing account or billing reference
  • A contact email and phone number for updates

Transfer questions

Will my provider accept the number?

That is for your provider to confirm. Providers differ in which numbers they can accept and what they require. Ask your chosen provider before you purchase, and tell us its answer when you send your transfer details.

How long does a transfer take?

There is no fixed timescale we can promise. It depends on the providers involved, their processes and any checks they apply. We tell you what we know for your case and keep you updated, but the receiving provider controls its side of the timing.

What does the transfer cost?

We do not charge a separate fee for coordinating the transfer of a number you have bought from us. Your provider may have its own setup, line rental or call charges; those are between you and the provider and should be confirmed with them.

What if the transfer cannot be completed?

If the number cannot be set up with your chosen provider, we will tell you plainly and look at the alternatives with you, including a different provider route, an alternative number or a refund where the number cannot be delivered.

Transfers are subject to provider compatibility and successful completion of the relevant transfer process. If a transfer cannot be completed, we will tell you plainly and put things right. See also how buying works, buying versus renting and the FAQs.
